# How do I change the color of the background of a template?

The background colors in templates are usually included in the locked layers and cannot be edited by directly clicking on them; however, they can be quickly changed using the color palette.

To modify the color of the background, please follow these steps:

1. Open the template on either desktop or mobile.
2. Locate the **color palette** at the bottom right of the template. On mobile devices, you may need to scroll further to access it.
3. In most cases, the background colors are located on the **left side of the palette**.
4. **Click** on the desired color, then select your new color from the provided palette. Alternatively, you may enter the specific HEX color code or utilize the [Brand Colors](https://kickly.net/articles/brand-colors-your-signature-hues-click-away) feature.
5. **Click outside** the editing menu to ensure the changes are successfully applied.
